Milan 2.26.06 - 2.27.06
We were only in Milan for around 20 hours. We were quite tired when we arrived, so we did not do as much exploring as we would have like to do. We had a nice dinner at an outside diner and went down to the Duomo, which was fantastic. The front It was being cleaned but apparently it is being cleaned all year around. By the time they are done with cleaning all around the church, it is time to start again.
The building took some 450 years to finish and I could see why when
I was up close to it. The church is huge and is surrounded by thousands
of unique statues on every corner and every inch of the building.
Cassie and I read in Frommers that the inside was disappointing but that guy that wrote that must have had a bad day. It was amazing. It was really dark in the building but it was really cool. There were so many candles in there that the ceilings were stained from the soot. They were just starting to clean the inside as well.
