Florence 2.27.06 - 3.01.06
There
is so much to say about Florence. It was really the start to our vacation.
Everything about the city was just fantastic. From its cobble stone narrow
streets, funny little cars, and intriguing architecture, Florence was
great.
After we arrived we decided to just walk around the city to get a feel for it. There was so much to see in a small area which was fantastic. All of the other cities that we had visited were so spread out (as far as sight seeing went) that it was almost impossible to see be a tourist without being incredibly tired because of the walking distances.
Florence was different. Everything was really close and the city seemed really safe. We were able to just walk and walk and around every corner there was something interesting to see. Florence was definitely more of a tourist town than Torino was. Lots more english speaking people and friendly people. Like any European city there were people peddling their little goods, which is annoying.
After
we hit a few of the churches CJ and I were looking for some place to
kind of relax and to get away from all of the people so we heard about
this park that was at the top of the city called the the Boboli Gardens.
It was about a mile by a mile garden full of sculptures and paths with
lots of green space. The perfect place to ask CJ to marry me! Thank
goodness she said yes (or of course)! Apparently everyone knew that
I was going to do it except for her. Funny how that works.
